Ruby:
Hello!
I currently receive google alerts to any news or stories that are published with the term “acts of kindness”, today I received an alert to a story on your site. Thank you for writing on such an heartfelt subject.
I also enjoyed perusing your site, my nephew who is turning 18 this year is Down Syndrome, so the stories and your site definitely resonate with me. I know the wins and the challenges all too well.
I’m writing you today specifically because I wanted to share a project I’m working on that I thought would be of interest to you being that you like me seem to take up issues of the heart.
A very dear friend of mine has a launched a project that is destined to bring happiness to millions throughout the world. You can find out about it at ******** It our intent to get 20 million of bracelets circulating the globe.
If you have time, please peruse our site, and even better, shoot an email to your friends, and tell them about the concept and the website. Check out the Spread the Word section on the website to get other ideas. I hope you can make this a giant success.
A mention of this concept on your blog would be very much appreciated. I could see much of your community participating in such a noble cause.
Thank you in advance for your help.

Blog Owner’s Note:
I deliberated on whether to publish, delete or label this comment as spam. The note is certainly not a bot-produced comment that’s just an excuse to drop a link. It has that going for it. I don’t know whether the writer’s claim of having a disabled nephew is true, but I’ll give the benefit of the doubt. Pardon me for being a bit of a cynic - no, on second thought, don’t. Life has taught me to be critical, and to look before I leap.
I looked, and at face value the site seemed as though it was promoting a good cause - random acts of kindness. And the idea of exchanging a token you can track is cool too, until you ask yourself where the money is going. Where is the money going? There was no statement about what was being done with the almost $2 per jelly bracelet being sold on the web site, nor were any claims made that the folks running the site were selling the bracelets at cost or that they were going to give money to charity, or anything.
I looked a little further, and noticed that these folks are looking for publicity - they want people to tell Oprah about them. And then I Googled Tere Gingerella. I found such a person, and her profile says she is a “seasoned professional with experience in the area of sales, marketing, public relations and operations.” Ms Gingerella has connections to Magnum Opus Project, the multi-million dollar James Ray International, and the Delphi Academy of San Diego (based on the works of L Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology.)
So, I’ll take the nice compliments from Ms. Gingerella. I’m actually quite flattered to have been noticed by such an eminent professional. I have, however, decided not to publish Ms. Gingerella’s links or the name of the project she is promoting. If you want to do the legwork and you’re so inclined, you should be able to find them. After all, they’re looking to be found!
If you want to spread a little love in the world, I’d recommend you just go out and do it. There’s no need for a special bracelet to be kind to your neighbour. If we need a bribe or a token, or a neat way of tracking who was nice to whom, then we’re in a pretty bad situation. As bad as the kids who won’t do their schoolwork unless someone dangles a pizza party or a fast food certificate in front of their faces.
My kids ask to read and to do their math and nature study. And in our family we do kind things for the good feeling it brings us. Somehow I think there are others who feel the same.
Blessings,
Ruby
